波士頓塞爾提克4日挑戰克里夫蘭騎士，儘管主力前鋒Jae Crowder因傷缺陣，雙衛Isaiah Thomas、Avery Bradley差點搞翻衛冕軍，可惜最終仍以122：128落敗，騎士開季5連勝。
決勝節開始前，塞爾提克還落後17分，但雙衛單節合砍17分，Bradley在5分24秒兩罰命中後追到5分差，但「愛神」Kevin Love隨後連得9分，順利滅火。
Thomas全場14罰全進，30分、6助攻，Bradley攻下26分、10籃板，頂上先發的中鋒Tyler Zeller表現不俗，11分、10籃板、6助攻。
Thomas賽後表示，「我們打了一場我們覺得可以贏的比賽，但表現還不夠好。」
「我覺得我們上半場的防守漏洞太多了。」塞爾提克型男教頭Brad Stevens說：「我們完全沒有藉口。」
